TRACEY CONYERS LEE (Billie Holiday)
Tracey Conyer Lee is a multidisciplinary theater maker.
Playwright – Published and produced in New Jersey, Boston, Chicago,
Nashville, DC/Metro and New York City. Former National Black Theatre
I AM SOUL playwriting fellow and winner of Florida Theatricals New
Musical Discovery series. Developed at the Obie winning The Fire This
Time festival, Urban Stages, Boomerang Theatre Company, the historic
and Tony award winning National Black Theatre, JAG Productions, Redtwist, Congo Square,
Mile Square, Ally Theatre Company, Latine Music Theatre Lab, Colorado New Musical Festival,
Untitled at the All Stars Project & American Theatre Group’s Playlab. Finalist for the Blue Ink
Award, the Samuel French OOB Award, The Cell residency, Circle Of Confusion Discovery
Fellowship, Lark Playwrights Week, the Princess Grace Award, the Doric Wilson Independent
Playwright Award, Live & In Color’s New Musical Workshop and semi-昀椀nalist for Bay Area
Playwrights Festival. She is currently commissioned by Palm Beach Dramaworks. Performer –
Three decade career yielding Carbonell, NAACP and Barrymore Awards. A 2023

Billie Holiday in nine productions of Lady Day At Emerson's Bar & Grill – most recently in Spring
2025 – and membership in the Tony Award honored choir, Broadway Inspirational Voices. She
has guest or costarred in series on Hulu, ABC, NBC and currently recurs in multiple seasons
of FBI on CBS. She is an audiobook narrator and voiceover artist. Director – Specializing in
new work including Off-Broadway revival of revised Sistas! The Musical in 2021. Award winning
co-director, with Zhailon Levingston, of 15th annual The Fire This Time Festival. Also Mile
Square Theatre, Downtown Urban Arts Festival, Vanguard Theatre’s Illuminating New Voices
Festival. Upcoming: Half Me, Half You, workshop this fall (associate director); Larissa
