Director's Note:
The concept for this presentation of “Lady Day” is unique to this
production. The result is a cutting or a distillation of Lanie Robertson’s
original excellent script wherein we experience Billie Holiday’s 昀椀nal
performance as a kind of fever dream of preparation for her 昀椀nal
performance. It is a summoning of the courage she needs to perform
again after a long hiatus.
